In addition to his wife Selma, David is survived by a sister, Sylvia Horowitz of Florida, sons Gerald Schwartz and wife Janet of New Britain, and Jonathan Schwartz and wife Janet of Burlington, as well as grandchildren Benjamin, Rebecca, and Andrew, step grandchildren Casey Hubelbank and his wife Jennifer, and Buffy Hubelbank, and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol teaches illustration at the University of Hartford and Eastern Connecticut State University. He was an avid amateur photographer and enjoyed traveling, especially river cruises in Europe. Carol grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Kansas City Art Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design. Upon discharge, David moved to Hartford, CT where he married Selma in 1946.ĭavid was a kind man who believed in service to others, and was a founding member and served as president of Temple Beth Tefilah in East Hartford, a past president and Melvin Jones fellow of the East Hartford Lions Club, and served as president of B’nai Brith Lodge 13.ĭavid was a CPA and partner in the firm of Booth, Schwartz and Pincus ( later Weinstein, Schwartz and Pincus). While in military training at Penn State, David met Selma Milkofsky of East Hartford, CT. David was a graduate of the Townsend Harris High School and the City College of New York.Īfter graduation David enlisted in the Army and served in Battery C of the 544th Field Artillery during the liberation of Luzon, for which he was awarded the President’s Unit Citation. David was born on December 8, 1921, the son of Benny and Tillie (Mehlman) Schwartz of the Bronx, New York. David Schwartz, 90, of West Hartford passed away on Friday, Decemin West Hartford.
